Three Swiss cities in world top ten for best quality of life
Zurich, Geneva and Basel are among the top ten cities in the world when it comes to quality of life, according to the annual Mercer quality of living survey.
The Austrian capital Vienna was top of the list, which ranked 450 cities around the world. Zurich was placed second followed by Auckland in New Zealand, Munich in Germany, and Vancouver in Canada.
Geneva took 8th place while Basel and Sydney in Australia were awarded equal 10th place. Switzerland’s capital city, Bern, was ranked 14th.
The survey assesses quality of life for expat employees and is used by multinational companies, government agencies and local authorities. There are 39 criteria in the survey, which take in to account political, economic and environmental factors, infrastructure, and health and education services.
