Women urged to leave work early

National News // March 7, 2017

Women are being urged to leave work early tomorrow to highlight the gender pay gap.

Doras Women urged to leave work early

Women on average earn 20% less for the same amount of work than men – so the campaign ’ #20percentearly’ is urging women to leave work at twenty past three tomorrow afternoon.

The shortened working day is 20% less than a normal day.

If taking a shorter day is not an option – then people ate being urged to show support by either wearing red, avoid spending money – except on female owned businesses – and using the hashtag, ‘#dayWithoutAWoman’.

The 20% pay differential seems to start at an early age. A study by the UK based charity Childwise shows girls receive 20% less pocket money than boys from the age of 11.
