Convicted Islamic fighter extradited to France
Switzerland has extradited a member of the Armed Islamic Group of Algeria to France. The man has already served 10 years in jail in France – and fled the country while under house arrest.
He was sentenced after plotting an attack in Paris.
Swiss authorities identified him at an asylum centre in the border town of Vallorbe in Vaud in September. He was arrested and extradition process was started. He was handed over to French police after an appeal court green lit the transfer.
