Swiss parliament votes to ban international gambling sites
The Swiss parliament has voted to block access to international on-line gambling sites and only casinos in Switzerland can get an on-line licence.
But some Swiss People’s Party MPs disagreed – saying blocking websites is something dictatorships do.
But there’s a bigger question on how to tax winnings – if they should be taxed at all. Currently all winnings up to a million francs are tax free. The cabinet and a parliamentary commission wants to keep all winnings tax free.
The debate on the new gambling law is set to continue.
