Suspected Geneva jihadist to stay in jail until trial
A Genevan suspected of being radicalized on a trip to Turkey early last year will stay in prison until his trial as it’s deemed too dangerous to release him.
The 30 year old man was arrested at Zurich airport in August last year when returning. He was already on a police watch list in 2015 when he left for Turkey.
The man is under investigation for having links with Islamic extremist groups – including Al Qaeda – and faces five years in jail.
A companion the man traveled with was also arrested in August, but has since been released. The man has had his identity documents confiscated and has to report to a local police station twice a week.
