EPFL trained Iranian scientist now in US
An Iranian scientist who studied at the EPFL and found herself stranded in Lausanne after President Trump banned nationals from Iran from travelling to the US has finally arrived in Boston.
Samira Asgari – a highly regarded biology researcher – had been offered a job at Harvard University, but was stopped from travelling to the US last week due to the ban. She was prevented from boarding the plane at Frankfurt.
But a US Federal Judge has lifted the ban, calling it unconstitutional, so Asgari took the opportunity to take another flight.
She is now in the US. She was greeted by her new colleagues and lawyers in Boston.
