TPG warns of criminal action on fake SMS tickets
Geneva public transport authorities say they are able to detect false SMS tickets – and say those who try to fool inspectors could face further criminal action for counterfeiting.
A local paper recently described a technique of sending an SMS to your own phone could recreate an SMS ticket. But the TPG say a simple scan of the code by inspectors would instantly show the ticket as fake.
Almost a quarter of transport ticket sales are now by mobile phone.
The TPG say anyone trying to fake a ticket will be fined for not having a ticket and then could also be arrested for fraud.
