Swiss animated film nominated for Oscar
A Swiss animated film has been nominated for an Oscar. ‘My Life as a Courgette’ was directed by the Valaisian Claude Barras and tells the story of a nine year old boy who was put in care after the death of his mother.
It has been nominated in the Best Animated Feature category.
The film was also shortlisted for best Foreign Language Feature, but failed to be nominated.
It cost CHF 8m and was co-produced by Swiss public television.
It has already won a flurry of other international awards – but narrowly failed to win a Golden Globe a couple of weeks ago.
