Geneva police upgrades equipment
Canton Geneva has agreed to spend almost CHF 6m upgrading police equipment – which may also include a drone.
The police say they need more up to date equipment to manage the increased terror threat.
Although the announcement comes just days after the Berlin attack – the proposals have been discussed since the Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris in January 2015.
The police say the presence of many international organizations in the canton mean they need to be prepared.
Officers will get more modern assault weapons, new bullet proof vests, more equipment designed to stop vehicles and maybe a drone for surveillance.
