Coop to redesign all stores
The country’s second biggest supermarket – Coop - is to redesign all its stores over the next few years.
The new look will highlight freshness of produce and will reflect old fashioned market values, according its head, Joos Sutter.
Yesterday the chain unveiled its first fully revamped store in Zumikon in canton Zurich. Sutter points out the meat counter looks like a village butcher and the cheese section is laid out like an old cheese shop.
But there is more than just cosmetic changes. The refrigerated section is now lined with new energy efficient displays with doors.
But the roll out to all the stores will take some time – just 40 will be completed in the next year.
