Thousands lined the streets of the old town in Geneva to watch Europe’s largest historical parade yesterday.

The Escalade parade has 800 people as well as over 60 horses with wagons, pipes and torches.

It marks the 1602 battle when the Genevois fought off troops from the Duke of Savoie which staged an early morning surprise attack.

The parade also closes three days of annual celebration.
