Extra security planned for Montreux Christmas Market
Montreux Christmas market has introduced extra security measures this year in light of recent terror attacks in Europe this year.
Montreux Noël’s event’s director, Yves Cornaro, told Le Matin that the town authorities asked him to review security arrangements and put the extra measures in place.
Similar steps were taken during the Fêtes de Genève, when concrete blocks were erected to prevent lorries accessing the festival site, following the attacks in Nice this summer.
In Montreux, extra security barriers will be erected, an evacuation plan with a rapid alert system for stall-holders has been put in place and the layout of the market has been changed with more escape routes.
Montreux Noël runs opens this Thursday and runs until December 24th.
