Vaud bans far right conference
The government of Vaud has banned a conference on nationalism due to be held in Lausanne this Saturday, due to the risk of public order.
The President of the Swiss Nationalist Party, Philippe Brennenstuhl, was scheduled to speak at the conference about his views on nationalism in Europe.
A concert was also planned by the French group Frakass, who are well known for their far right views.
The State Council says that the ban is valid in the entire Canton of Vaud, even if the date of the event is changed.
It follows strong reaction to rallies in Unterwasser and in Kaltbrunn in the canton of St. Gallen.
