Swiss film wins another prize - Oscars next?
The Swiss animated film "My life as a Zucchini" (or Courgette) has won another prestigious prize, this time at the Frankfurt book fair, that has celebrated the best international film adaptations since 2004.
The work of Valais animator, Claude Barras was awarded the top prize in the new category "Film for children and youth."
The film is based on the French novel by Gilles Paris "Autobiography of a zucchini."
It tells the story of a little boy, Zucchini, who is sent to an orphanage after his parents die and his new life becomes a journey of discovery, camaraderie, and love.
It was part of the twenty films selected for the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes 2016 and won the best European film award at the International Film Festival of San Sebastian.
In January 2017 we will know if the film has made the list of nominees for Switzerland in the Oscar race.
