English second most used language in Switzerland
A large majority of Swiss regularly use more than language, according to a survey by the Federal Office of Statistics. The survey, taken in 2014, found that 64% of Swiss speak more than one language at least once a week - 38% use two, 19% use three and 7% use four or more languages.
German is the most widely spoken language, followed by French and English. The survey, of people aged 15 and older, shows that 76% of people with a university education are likely to speak more than one language on a regular basis. 79% of young people, between the ages of 15 and 24, also use more than one language as do 72% of people in work.
And, not surprisingly, English is the second most used language in German- and French-speaking Switzerland.
