Pilot who died in Susten Pass crash honoured at military funeral
The funeral of the pilot from Vaud who died in a crash near the Susten pass at the end of August has been held at a church in Payerne.
After the funeral, two F / A-18 carried out a fly pass in honour of the 27-year-old above his airbase.
Le Matin say one jet flew straight ahead and another towards the sky, in the international tradition for fallen pilots.
The fighter jet crashed on August 29 shortly after taking off on a training exercise from the base of Meiringen (BE).
The wreckage of the plane was spotted the next day in the remote Hinter-Tierberg region, at around 3,300m altitude.
Investigators say the pilot had been told to fly at too low an altitude.
