Hiker rescued in Ticino
A hiker has been rescued after falling 15 meters into a crevasse on the glacier Basodino in the Ticino Alps.
The 51-year-old woman received moderately severe injuries after the accident on Saturday morning, that happened at an altitude of 3100 meters.
The Swiss Air-Rescue (Rega) say it was a particularly tricky operation in the dark and involved four mountain rescuers, specialised in evacuations by helicopter and two helicopter teams.
The victim was eventually winched out and taken to the regional hospital of Lugano.
