Geneva police investigating possible autoroute suicide

Geneva police are investigation the possibility a woman committed suicide by walking into the path of a car on the A1 autoroute.

At 5.30 yesterday morning, a motorist struck a 38 year old woman on the road between the Coppet and Versoix exits.

The victim died immediately.

The driver told police there was nothing he could do.

Police closed the road for several hours while investigating the incident.

Spokesman for Geneva police, Jean-Philippe Brandt, told the newspaper 20 Minutes: " "We do not yet know the reasons of the tragedy, although it could be a suicide, which means the driver of the car is at no fault."
