Fire risk rises in Vaud and Valais despite rain
Vaud has joined Valais in banning fires or barbecues in forests, including designated picnic spaces.
The forest fire hazard level has reached 4 out of 5 and the rain storms over the weekend aren't enough to improve soil conditions.
Authorities are warning that matches and cigarette butts must be carefully extinguished and anything that looks like starting a fire must be reported.
On Thursday, Valais also banned open fires as they danger level reached 5.
The risk is particularly high in the Rhone Valley, the Lower Valais and the German speaking part of the canton.
