Geneva police called overzealous on traffic campaign
Geneva police say their increased vigilance on traffic offences will continue for the next few days – despite criticism from some for being perceived as overzealous.
As schools go back this week, officers have been patrolling throughout the canton making sure all traffic rules are obeyed.
But some believe their actions are too enthusiastic. One woman told the Tribune de Genève newspaper she was ticketed for stopping just before a pedestrian crossing while dropping off her husband for work and they shared a quick goodbye kiss.
But the police are unsympathetic – the new head of the traffic brigade, Patrick Pulh, says the start of the new academic year is always stressful for parents, but it's important everyone stays safe.
