Who will be the next UN Secretary General?

Local News // Aug. 2, 2016
Who will be the next UN Secretary General?

"The United Nations - yes, it has a large budget but the goal, I think, is to make sure that the money is spent more effectively. It's to make sure that the staff are content and competent and committed to doing their jobs and to make sure that they feel comfortable and that they have proper protection in their jobs and their careers and what they're trying to do. That's the way to make the United Nations a happier place and a more effective place to address the really very difficult challenges that are facing global politics today." - Matthew Parish, Political Advisor for Vuk Jeremić.

Matthew Parish from Gentium Law Group, Political Advisor for Vuk Jeremić in his campaign to become the next UN Secretary General, joins Mark Butcher in the WRS studio to explain the upcoming election process to find a new UN Secretary General when Ban Ki Moon's term expires at the end of this year.

He also explains why he's backing one of the younger candidates in the running this year; Vuk Jeremić, from Serbia and why the generational shift is best to tackle a 'progressive agenda'.
