“Staycationing” more popular in Switzerland due to terrorism fears
“Staycationing” is becoming more popular in Switzerland due to the threat of terrorism.
Swiss tourists are currently staying clear of Turkey, Tunisia and Paris as they don't feel safe.
Paris was a favourite destination until the terrorist attacks in November.
Swiss Tourism say popular areas among Swiss holidaymakers include Ticino, the Lake Geneva region, canton Graubünden and the Bernese Oberland.
More Swiss are also staying in Austria and Germany as they are considered relatively safe travel destinations and the weak euro makes them a more attractive option.
