Zika virus on the rise in Switzerland
Twenty-eight people from Switzerland have been infected with the Zika virus so far this year, including 12 since early May.
The federal Office of public health say they all travelled to areas suffering from the epidemic.
This includes 4 in the Dominican Republic, 3 in Colombia, 3 in Martinique, 2 in Brazil, 2 in Bolivia, 1 in Ecuador, 1 in Costa Rica, 1 in the US Virgin Islands, and 1 in Guadeloupe.
In February, the World Health Organization declared a public health emergency in Brazil where the Olympic Games are due to start next week and is the country most affected by the virus.
Travellers there are being advised to protect themselves both outside and indoors by wearing loose clothing with long sleeves that are coated with insecticide and sleep under a mosquito net.
Pregnant women are advised not to travel to affected countries.
