New cycle lanes could soon be created in Geneva parks
Bicycle paths could soon be created in some of Geneva's parks, following the recent decision by the city of Geneva to ban them.
Earlier this summer, the executive councillor for Security and mayor of Geneva, Guillaume Barazzone, decided to make cyclists get off their bikes to cross a park for the safety of pedestrians.
The decision angered many cyclists, with some taking to vandalising temporary signs put up in parks to warn them of the new rule.
Councillor Alfonso Gomez, from the Pro Cycling Committee, is pleased with the mayor's compromise:
Mr Gomez says they are negotiating with Mr Barazzone about where the paths will be:
Details of the new cycle paths will be made by the end of the summer.
