Payments by debit cards soon possible in Swiss post offices
Post office users in Switzerland may soon be able to pay for services and products in branches using their debit cards.
From today the 15-million-franc pilot project is being launched in the canton of Bern and Aargau which could the service rolled out across the country from December, as reprted in the Tages Anzeiger.
Post offices in Zollikofen and Baden will be equipped to take Maestro and Visa debit cards as part of the month-long trial.
Then over the next three months the post office will change card machines in other branches
The only catch is that they cannot be used to pay for bills and credit cards are still not allowed.
