Classical music is celebrated at the Verbier Festival which opens today

The 23rd edition of the Verbier Festival opens today until August 7 with almost 60 concerts over 17 days.

Learning for young musicians is a big part of the Classical music festival with about 300 young musicians come to Verbier to join one of the learning programmes, coached by one of the Great music masters.

Throughout the Festival, visitors can watch a master class, rehearsals and concerts by the Orchestras.

Listen here to Director of the Verbier Festival Academy, Christian Thompson and student Andreas Ottensamer talk to WRS' Katt Cullen about the Academy programmes and the festival, which is open to the public and runs from the 22nd July until the 7th August.
