Work on Geneva Express line at Chambésy delayed for 6 months
Work on the Geneva Express, island crossing line at Chambésy has been delayed for another 6 months
The rail service between Coppet and Lancy-Pont-Rouge won't be completed until June 2018 at the earliest.
The work to on the line which is used by 50,000 passengers a day should have started in 2015, along with the station at Mies.
CFF say they had problems acquiring land and couldn't find a solution in terms of cost and safety to make up all or part of the delay.
When completed the line will carry four trains per hour in each direction between Coppet and Lancy-Pont-Rouge during peak hours.
The Geneva border RER Express which will connect 45 stations over 230 kilometers between the cantons of Vaud, Geneva and France, will be completed by the end of 2019.
