Woman in burkini banned from Geneva pool
A woman in Islamic swimsuit has been told she wasn't allowed to swim in Carouge swimming pool because she was wearing a burkini.
The mother of three had to leave her children unattended as staff said they were forbidden both in and around the pool.
Staff say it's for religious reasons, but the city of Carouge claim they are banned for hygiene and safety reasons.
The city council say that it's also prohibited to wear shorts below the knees.
Rules differ from place to place. The city of Geneva also prohibits swimming in Burkini's in its pools, but allows them to be worn along the waterfront, but at a pool in Lignon, there are no restrictions.
