Event: New Year Music Festival in Gstaad
- 27/12/2019 - 06/01/2020
- Gstaad, Rougemont, Lauenen, Lauenen, 3782, Switzerland
The 14th edition of the annual New Year Music Festival in Gstaad is an artist-led, not-for-profit event held in and around Gstaad in the Bernese Alps. This year the festival is a partner of the City of Bonn's celebrations for Beethoven 2020 and we are focussing on the great composers music in a variety of interesting forms - from Joachim Horsley's « Beethoven in Havana » to a New Year's Day performance of the 5th Symphony, in an arrangement for Quintet. There are galas and free concerts in between - with the wonderful American soprano Lisette Oropesa on 2 January 2020, again in Rougemont and rising star Alexandros Stavrakakis, two days later. The 12-year old pianist Alexandra Dovgan will play a range of music on 3 January in the St Niklaus Kapelle in Gstaad. The great pianist Grigory Sokolov has described Alexandra as 'brilliant.' The Menuhin Academy will end the 10-concert festival series in Lauenen on Monday 6 January with Beethoven's "Eroica" and for this year, when many people tell us they would have loved to come but were away - we have added a recital in Fribourg on Friday 10 January at the Musée Gutenberg. Caroline Haffner will play Chopin's Four Ballades. Tickets on the door, from Gstaad or Rougemont tourism, or direct from the festival office online at Email: firstname.lastname@example.org See you in the mountains !
