What's on at the UN? Plastic Soup Surfer - beat plastic pollution!

Daniel Johnson joins us once again for a round-up of events and conferences from the Palais des Nations.


Tuesday 5th June is World Environment Day and this years theme is “beat plastic pollution”. Daniel gives us a round-up of some of the events at the UN, including the 'Plastic Soup Surfer'!

Also, Tuesday evening sees a CinéONU screening of of River of Gold at 6:30 p.m, Auditorium Ivan Pictet, Maison de la Paix in Geneva. The Screening will be attended by Ms Sarah DuPont, the Film's Producer & President and Founder of the Amazon Aid Foundation, Mr Charles Chaussepied, former Director of Piaget and Chair of the Standards Committee of the Responsible Jewellery Council, A representative of the Minamata Convention on Mercury, UN Environment, Mr Casper Edmonds, Head of the Extractives, Energy and Manufacturing Unit, International Labour Organization and moderated by the Geneva Graduate Institute. 

We also catch up on South Sudan with the UN’s Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock and discuss the upcoming library talk with Vint Cerf, " One of the Fathers of the Internet" as he talks about cybersecurity and the Sustainable Development Goals (commonly referred to as SDGs) - Tuesday 5th June 1pm-2pm. Registration essential for those without a UN badge.
