What's on at the UN? Fundraising for Yemen's humanitarian crisis

UN Roundup // Politics // May 1, 2017

Today Rheal LeBlanc fills in for Daniel Johnson on the show for our weekly round-up of UN events.

Firstly Rheal runs us through last week's high level pledging event for the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and we hear from UN Emergency Aid Coordinator Stephen O'Brian.

Various meetings will take place this week, including the Committee against Torture and the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

The UN Geneva has launched a new YouTube project called SDG Studio which features interviews with people contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Develoment Goals.

This week's events to get involved in include a networking Mix & Mash this Wednesday 3rd of May at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Geneva.

World Press Day on the 3rd May is a great opportunity to open the doors at the Palais and discuss "The Media's role in advancing peaceful, just and inclusive societies"

Finally, on Thursday, there will be a library event: Youth Breaking Barriers of Exclusion

Meet "Human Books" who will share their stories of sef-initiated projects, working to bridge the gap between newcomers and local populations. Each one of them has contributed to building empathy within their communities and taken steps towards inclusive social change. This event will also show how grassroots programmes and initiatives help create a space for interactions. Dive into the stories of these changemakers and get inspired, equipped and connected through their experiences.
