Versoix celebrate their 200th Swiss-iversary
We’ll be there, broadcasting live from the event so come and sayhello on Saturday morning!
This weekend, Versoix celebrate their 200th year as a Swiss town with a series of events designed to capture the spirit of this historic event.
Events start on Friday at 5pm with a music concert in the hamlet of Ecogia and continue throughout the weekend.
Saturday will kick-off with a parade that starts it's journey at Versoix train station, making it’s way to Ecogia. There’s activities, historical costumes, concerts to suit every music taste; classical, rock and Sonia Grimm for the little ones. Don’t forget to catch the fireworks display on Saturday evening.
Sunday sees brass bands and alphorn concerts, the official ceremony and a demonstration of Swiss mountain dogs and Saint Bernards. There will be a ceremony to release the balloons and a tombola.
Throughout the weekend, a local farmers market, historical costumes and crafts can be enjoyed throughout. There’s also a food court if you’re peckish.
If you fancy taking home a souvenir then commemorative wine glasses, flags and tiles will be on sale too.
A shuttle bus will run from Versoix Route de Saint-Loup to Ecogia.
