Verbier Festival is music to your ears
Verbier Festival invites the world's leading classical musicians and the next generation of artists to learn, to inspire each other and, of course, to perform. This year it runs from July 22 until August 7.
Christian Thompson, Director of the Verbier Festival Academy, has an incredible passion for the music, but also for excellence, which is what he says sets Verbier Festival apart.
He believes that anyone who doesn't love classical music just hasn't heard it done properly.
He has around 300 students that come to the Academy each summer and participate in the Academy programmes.
One such student was Andreas Ottensamer, who attended the academy in 2009 at just 20 years old. Seven years later he is the lead clarinetist in the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and returns this year to perform.
Christian Thompson and Andreas Ottensamer talk to WRS' Katt Cullen about the Academy programmes and also the upcoming festival, which is open to the public and runs from the 22nd July until the 7th August.
Check Verbier Festival for full information about the programme, including when to see Andreas Ottensamer on stage.
