Gena Festival - A free festival with an emphasis on 'local'
Gena Festival is an Open Air festival in its 19th year. It runs on the football grounds in Avully this upcoming Friday 8th and Saturday 9th July.
Organised and run by volunteers, the festival aims to promote local talent and this year's musical line-up is entirely Swiss bands on the emerging scene. There's no restriction in musical style so you'll find folk, punk rock and reggae running back to back; a little something for everyone, on intimate stages and amidst beautiful Genevan country-side.
Sara & Benoit have dedicated their time to making this event happen. They popped into the studio to tell us all about it...
One band performing at Gena Festival this year is Elvett who you might have caught last year gracing the stages at Caribana. Their sexy, sultry electro sound is hypnotic. The good news from the duo, Lyn M and Alain, is that they're currently working on their new album so expect to hear more from them soon.
Lyn M, from Elvett, takes a break in recording to have a chat with Katt on the Mid Morning Mix.
There's also bars, food and crafts to enjoy and a bus service to get back to Geneva after the events are up.
Gena Festival is known for its familial atmosphere in the beautiful Geneva country side.
