Deal or No Deal! UK-Swiss Trade and Migration Agreements

The Breakfast Show // Community// National News// Local News // By Mark // May 1, 2019

CONTINUITY IN UNCERTAIN TIMES

And if you are British, living and working here in Switzerland, what do these agreements actually mean for you?

These bilateral agreements are critical matters. You are invited to come to this informative event to have them addressed and put your own questions to the expert panellists.

As the complexities of the UK’s exit from the European Union are open for all to see, the BSCC is pleased to bring to Geneva the two specialists who have led the dialogue with regard to Trade and Migration on behalf of the Swiss Federal Government.

Cornelia Lüthy and Stefan Flückiger have both been at the sharp end of these important, inter-governmental talks and will come to Geneva from Berne to explain and answer questions about how they were conducted. Importantly, how preparations were made for either a “Deal” or “No-deal” outcome; and how the uncertainties were navigated to ensure that the vitally important trade and migration “workstreams” between our two countries were not disrupted.

And on the Migration side, what the protection of UK Citizens’ rights actually entails, as well as what it means to the daily lives of UK Citizens living, working and running businesses here in Switzerland.

Noel McEvoy, of the British Embassy’s Department for International Trade, will join us and also contribute to the debate.

We will be joined by members of the British Residents’ Association of Switzerland.
