ART SEEN - Miglena Savova's 'Lighthouse' exhibition
Steph Fonteyn, our ART SEEN reviewer, was lucky enough to get a sneak preview of Miglena Savova's colourful oil paintings before her Geneva exhibition this coming November.
The exhibition called “Lighthouse” displays around 20 oil paintings and drawings by Bulgarian artist Miglena Savova.
What makes this exhibition really interesting?
Her work really caught my eye for the colourful and unusual zoomed in perspectives. Reminded me of my own work just different subjects.
Her symbolic use of imagery and perspective in the paintings are about interior journeys even though ironically, there are no humans in the images. The artist presents us with an array of subjects, such as a lighthouse or merry-go-round from unusual and often zoomed in perspectives. She flips the idea of looking out to looking inwards. Her use of bright contrasting colours project strong emotions and energy.

Thanks to volunterring at UNICREA 6 years ago I met the founder Celine Dreveton, and had the pleasure to go for coffee where I was inspired by her story and ended up writing a business plan on the back of a napkin and contributed to plucking up the courage to take a leap of faith.
