Come Up - Slow Down - in Gstaad
Michel Hediger works at the Tourism Office / Gstaad Marketing. He gives us a little background about how Gstaad came to be the destination that it is today. It involves a rather happy accident involving a mountain that was far too steep for a train.
We also talk about alpine authenticity, local life and the variety of winter activities you can enjoy here as well as tennis and beach volleyball in the summer!
We talk to Stephan Post, the General Manager of Park Gstaad - a 5-star hotel in Gstaad - about hotels, culinary offerings and wellbeing in general in the region. We talk about etiquette when celebrity-spotting in Gstaad; a region famed for attracting the stars due to its professionalism and down-to-earth attitude.
Mirka Czybik is the General Manager of the Huus Hotel. She talks us through some of the hotel facilities, including the hotel spa, restaurant and brand new shisha bar.
The lobby itself has many books and artifacts that stretch to the ceiling, as well as a particularly enviable bar. There's even a live DJ in the lobby every Thursday. As Mirka explains, they just want their guests to feel at home when they come in.
Marius builds the same hotel every year. Why? Because it melts every spring.
He's the Manager of Iglu-Dorf - a hotel made out of snow up on the slopes in Gstaad. With only 11 rooms, it's an exclusive spot for guests to sleep on a bed made of snow, enjoy a good meal or even the sauna! Even if you don't stay, you can head over to Iglu-Dorf for a meal during the day when you're up on the slopes. Marius tells us more about the artists who build the hotel each year and create the snow sculptures...
