Food Scout: Sugar and spice and everything Fotzelschnitten
Food scout Amy Eber tucks into, and even makes her own, Fotzelschnitten. This Swiss-German expression means “ripped pieces of paper” and is the ultimate of traditional, sweet comfort foods that remind you of mom. Slices of bread are soaked in a milk and egg mixture then sauteed until golden brown. After dipping both sides in cinnamon sugar, it is served with a generous dollop of applesauce:
