Dig It! Sloped Lucerne garden separates sheep from native plants

Plant specialist Cornelia Lohri, from landscape architecture firm freiraumarchitektur, guides Hester Macdonald through a farmhouse garden she created for a client in Lucerne. The garden is unique because it contains rare local varieties of plants, steep slopes and a fenced-in area for sheep:

Lucerne is surrounded by lovely landscapes and is home to such well-known landscape architecture firms as freiraumarchitektur.

Next week, Hester will find out what’s new in the world of those beautiful slug-magnet plants, hostas, from the perennials nursery, Le Jardin des Lys. If you want a sneak peek at their new ombrarium and the enormous hostas collection, you can take advantage of the first of their “Open Days” this weekend, and enjoy the beautiful Itoh peonies that are in full bloom right now.
