Eliana Burki plays the alphorn like no other
Friday, 24 June, 2011Eliana Burki is not your typical alphorn player. The young Swiss singer-songwriter started playing the large mountain instrument when she was a little girl. Since then, she has developed a unique sound that mixes alphorn with a variety of popular music, and has just recorded her second album. WRS’s Alex Helmick talks to her about her latest songs, her own special instrumental invention and how much sex appeal has played into her success. Plus, Burki performs in the studio with guitarist Sam Siegenthaler:

Jack Is Dead plays politically inspired acoustic rock
Friday, 27 May, 2011Jack Is Dead is a group named after a memorable telephone call about a friend who lived life precariously. Inspired by protests, notably the one in Iran a couple years ago, the acoustic rock group’s music is infused with politically-charged lyrics. WRS’s Alex Helmick is joined by the guitarist and singer for Jack Is Dead, Yves Zahno, who is half Iranian:
