A suspect in a Zurich shooting from Saturday is sitting in a Hamburg jail, awaiting a formal extradition request from Switzerland.
Wilhelm Möllers is district attorney for the German city-state of Hamburg, and he said the 24-year-old neo-nazi suspect was being held on attempted murder charges.
But Möllers said Switzerland had only requested an initial detention, but not a formal extradition.
Until then the suspect sits in provisional custody.
Zurich police posted his picture on the internet a short time after a shooting in the city’s old town.
The victim was shot in the chest, left seriously injured.
The suspect was arrested yesterday in Hamburg, found with a gun in his backpack.
