The 17-year-old Swiss boy who held up a Geneva pharmacy at gun point is in hospital after being shot in the stomach by police.
He is reported not be in a critical condition.
The holdup resulted in a car-jacking and chase.
Pactrick Pulh is spokesman for the Geneva cantonal police:
“The suspect pushed out the driver of the car, and the police intervened. The suspect turned towards an officer and the officer shot the suspect in the stomach. He then got in the car anyway and drove off. Inside the car was a female passenger and her baby of a few months old.”
The suspect then crashed the car.
No one else was injured.
Authorities then detained the young man.
They have confirmed that the gun was not real.
Newspaper Le Matin reports that the young man is suffering from a psychiatric illness and known to authorities as being violent.
