The World Economic Forum has ranked Switzerland the most competitive country globally.
It’s Switzerland’s fourth consecutive year at the top of the chart.
Singapore comes in at number two followed by Finland.
The World Economic Forum says Switzerland merits the position for three main reasons.
First it calls the education system innovative.
Then it praises the high level of spending on research.
And finally it cites what it calls the strong collaboration between the academic and private sectors.
The forum also recognized what it considers to be Switzerland’s robust economy and labor market as well as transparency.
The United States, which led the way in the ranking five years ago, fell to seventh place this year—down from number five last year.
