A Swiss team crossed the line in Geneva on Thursday to win a round-the-world race of zero-emission electric vehicles.
Riding in a covered two-seater electric motorbike, the Oerlikon solar racing team finished ahead of three other vehicles.
The Swiss wanted to raise awareness about climate change and prove that such vehicles are reliable.
Teammates Tobias Wuelser and Frank Loaker set off in August 2010, covering 500 kilometres every day and charging their vehicle as they went.
The “Zero Race” was set up Swiss teacher Louis Palmer with the aim of showcasing carbon emission-free technology.
