Aid efforts by Swiss Solidarity are finished in the region devastated by a tsunami in Asia five years ago.

The group says nearly CHF 230 million of aid helped just over 3 million people in the coastal areas around Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Thailand.

Donations poured in from around the world to help survivors of the tragedy, which caused over 215,000 deaths. 48,000 people are still missing.

However, Swiss Solidarity said that in comparison to other disasters, donations for victims of the tsunami were disproportionate and that the hasty management of donations led to failures and errors.
