On average, every Swiss household donated 684 francs to charity and good causes last year.

Seventy-two percent of all households donated 1.3 billion francs in total, says market researchers gfs.zurich, who questioned more than 1,500 people in German and French speaking Switzerland.

But while households in German-speaking Switzerland donated 800 francs on average, the figure was just 344 francs in the French speaking part.
