Switzerland’s population is still ballooning. 

Federal estimates show the population will top 8 million this summer, and it may have already happened. 

The statistics office cannot say when exactly the 8 million mark will be passed, because it doesn’t calculate population on a daily basis, but based on the trend from the start of the year, the mark should be hit soon.

The population has more than tripled since 1860, despite a short time of emigration between 1910 and 1930.
