Swiss footballer Michel Morganella has been expelled from the Swiss Olympic team after a racist message appeared on the player’s Twitter account.

Swiss Olympic Committee spokesman Christof Kaufmann earlier confirmed the controversy was being reviewed, but it is now reported Morganella is being sent home.

The player is alleged to have posted an offensive message against the South Korean people, after South Korea’s football team yesterday beat the Swiss 2-1.

Morganella posted an apology for the comment before deleting his Twitter account this afternoon.

Previously, a Greek triple jumper was removed from the Olympics after mocking African immigrants.
