Swiss man held in Venezuela over sex cases
A 65-year-old Swiss man arrested in Venezuela was earlier sentenced in absentia for sexual offences in canton Bern, authorities in Switzerland say.
Officials in canton Bern confirmed media reports from the South American country about the arrest but declined to say whether the offences involved children.
The senior was arrested on January 28 on the Caribbean island of Isla de Margarita.
The Swiss government is expected to seek his extradition to Switzerland for sentencing.
