A development project on the border with Austria appears to have the green light, after opponents decided not to continue a court battle.
The environmental group VCS had opposed building plans in St. Margrethen, a first stop for trains entering Switzerland from Austria.
VCS said its opposition, based on poor air quality plans, had limited chances for success, despite the court agreeing there were failings in the canton of St Gallen’s handling of the plan.
The so-called “Europuls” project aims to bring a hotel, stores and apartments to a development just near St. Margrethen’s train station.
